Hydrodynamic attractors in heavy ion collisions

I will review the concept of hydrodynamic attractors and their properties, focusing on applications in heavy-ion collision experiments. One direct consequence of hydrodynamic attractors is a general relation between the initial state energy and the produced particle multiplicities measured in experiments. When combined with an ab-initio model of energy deposition it provides constraints on far-from-equilibrium early time dynamics in a form of quantitative estimates of pressure anisotropies. This strongly suggests that assuming free streaming prior to hydrodynamization is not necessarily compatible with a generic initial state model and that features of the pre-hydrodynamic flow need to be matched with the model of the initial state.
