Events (co)organised by our team

May 16. - 25., 2024: 60th Karpacz Winter School on Theoretical Physics & WE-Heraeus Physics School "Phase Transitions – From the Laboratories to the Cosmos"

This WE-Heraeus School is jointly held with the 60th edition of the Karpacz Winter School of Theoretical Physics. The event is organized by the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of Wroclaw, Poland.

July 31. - August 5., 2022: Brainstorming workshop 2022 to Revolutionize the Core-Collapse Supernova Theory

Institute of Theoretical Physics, University of Wroclaw

The focus of this workshop is to bring together the world-leading experts in the field of computational stellar astrophysics with special emphasis on neutrino radiation magneto-hydrodynamics simulations of core-collapse supernovae. The latter involves aspects of numerical relativity, neutrino radiative transfer as well as associated weak processes, and the equation of state of hot and dense matter under extreme conditions. Possible predictions of supernova observables, these are gravitational waves and neutrinos, requires state of the art combined modelling of all the aforementioned phenomena, which makes the supernova problem–the explosion mechanism of massive stars–one of the most demanding computational physics problems of our time. This workshops aims at defining the next milestones in the field.

June 19. - 31., 2021: 57th Karpacz Winter School of Theoretical Physics and PHAROS COST Action CA16214 Training School – "Equation of state of dense matter and multimessenger astronomy" "

Artus Hotel, Karpacz

This PHAROS COST Action CA16214 training school is held jointly with the 57th edition of the Karpacz Winter School of Theoretical Physics. The event is organized by the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of Wroclaw, Poland. The meeting takes place in the light of the very first observation of the gravitational wave signals GW170817, GW190425 and GW190814, as well as the pioneering NICER results.

Subjects:

Equation of state for astrophysical applications

Multi-messenger astronomy

Numerical modeling

Feb 24. - March 2., 2019: 55th Karpacz Winter School of Theoretical Physics and ChETEC COST Action CA16117 Training School – "Nuclear astrophysics in the multi-messenger era"

Artus Hotel, Karpacz

This ChETEC COST Action CA16117 training school is held jointly with the 55th edition of the Karpacz Winter School of Theoretical Physics. The event is organized by the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of Wroclaw, Poland, and by the Nuclear Astrophysics group of the Helmholtz Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), Germany. The meeting takes place in the light of the very first observation of the gravitational wave signal GW170817 that originated from a binary neutron star merger.

Subjects:

Explosive astrophysical phenomena – the physics of supernovae and neutron star mergers

Astrophysical messenger – neutrinos, gravitational waves and gamma-rays

Nuclear astrophysics experiments
